We've been busy. Like really really busy. I've been behind on uploading and organizing photos (I just uploaded photos from July!), which also leads to being behind on the blog. But we've had some serious fun in the last few months, so I apologize in advance for the massive quantity of photos below.
Earlier this month we decided to make our first trip to Fossil Rim with Uncle Clifton and Aunt Lauren. We decided that since it was a little bit of a hike down there, a trip to McDonald's for breakfast was in order. I'm pretty sure it was the boys' first breakfast McDonald's trip, and we didn't hear a single complaint from anyone.
We decided to act like complete rednecks once we got to the park, and the boys spent almost the entire trip (all 4ish hours) in the bed of the truck.
Walter took to throwing food at some of the animals. I can't imagine why they were tentative to approach the truck..
It was seriously hot the day we went - I think it reached over 100, which made for a long trip. We weren't expecting four hours in the sun...
TEEEAACCHHHER!!! Henry made sure to tell his teacher (his stuffed zebra) all about seeing his brothers at the "new zoo."
And then we met Sven. At least that's what I decided to call him. This guy had no problems begging for food. And that tongue... there are just no words. But there was plenty of laughter! At the end of our trip. We were a wee bit hot. And tired.
This is what they looked like within 4 minutes of exiting the parking lot to head home.
This weekend we decided to hit up the Plano Balloon Festival. The boys absolutely loved it!
The food (read lemonade and corn dogs) was a hit.
These two decided to brave it and tag along with my two little crazies!
Aunt Lo-lo (the only thing we can get Walter to say that sounds even remotely like Lauren) was such a help with this munchkin.
Balloons starting to arrive!
We had a hard time peeling this one away from him lemonade....
And now for the biggest event for the Meredith boys - skydivers!!!
Henry was fascinated that you could wear a backpack and jump out of an airplane. After they landed, we had to go check them out.
But then Henry decided he was shy, and would only come over to talk to them after we took this picture.
We realized after the guy on the left walked up that we'd met him last year - when Henry was a little smaller....
They later took one of the skydivers up in a balloon and let him jump - this was just a bonus round for the boys!
At this point, Uncle Clifton started telling Henry all kinds of crazy things about skydivers and parachuters. I can't remember the details, but some is in the video below... ah, the joys of having crazy uncles. :)
And despite high-winds, we had lift off with one balloon! [Nevermind that it crash landed later that evening...whoops!]
I'm sure there were more important life lessons being taught here.
And finally, the balloon glow. While many of the balloons couldn't inflate due to the high winds, there were enough for an enjoyable evening. Can't wait to go back next year!!!
