Happy Sunday!

Paul was out of town last night, so I was in charge of getting Henry and I both ready for church this morning.  Alas, we did not make it to big church and Sunday School.  But I did get us both up, dressed, fed, and to Sunday School, so I think that counts for something!

Paul made it back home around lunchtime, and spent quite a bit of time outside killing weeds Let it be noted that we have some seriously impressive weeds this year.  I suppose that's the price we pay for a fantastically mild winter.  Henry and I decided we wanted to go outside as well, and it was the perfect weather for a 5 month old - warm, cool breeze, and overcast.
He really enjoyed himself, and was fascinated by the trees, bushes, and flowers.

He spent a large amount of time laughing at Oscar.

Don't you feel sorry for this dog?  Henry's OBSESSED with him (if you couldn't tell from his claw-like hand that is perched and ready to go in the for the "petting" kill).

I could only get away with snapping so many pictures before he noticed the large black camera and decided to investigate with his slimy hand.  My camera is now in need of some anti-smudging attention.

And is there anything more precious than a naked/only-diaper-wearing baby?

There are no words for what this picture means to me.  In fact, I'm tearing up  trying to think of a way to put it in writing.  Love.

This picture, however, captures our life over the past 1.5 months (look closely).  Drool. Lots and lots and lots of drool.  We've already had 2 his two bottom teeth pop up, and know a few more will be showing up soon!  I'm not gonna lie, though - I kind of like him only having two teeth with he gives me a big grin.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Eight years ago today, I was living in London for the semester and having the time of my life.  Paul didn't study abroad with me, but he did come visit during his spring break.  Since there wasn't a room available at the hotel we were living in, Paul booked a room at one of the cheapest hostels ever (I literally think it was $15/night) near Piccadilly Circus.  Since he didn't want to worry about guarding his luggage from Eurotrash, he kept it in my room.  Little did I know, he was planning to propose while he was visiting me.  He started worrying that I would find the ring hidden in his luggage (I suppose he thought I was going to dig around and see what t-shirts he'd packed for the trip?).  When he realized this meant he would have to have the ring on him in the ghetto hostel, he chose the next best option, which was to pop the question on the way to the hostel while we were trekking through Russell Square.

And the rest is history!  While I knew Paul and I were meant to be together, I had no idea how much we would be blessed!!

And if that didn't make you grin, try not smiling at this one......

Hehehehe. Don't you know he's thinking, "What in the world are you doing to me?!?"

Spring Break!

Paul and Henry are on spring break this week.  Paul's been making sure that they get out and about to enjoy this gorgeous weather before it gets too hot.

They started out with a jog at White Rock Lake on Monday.
He was happy as can be halfway through their run.

Henry survived (though, admittedly, he doesn't look terribly excited).

After their run, the boys came and picked me up for lunch.  Made my day!

Today, the boys ventured to the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
This was their halfway point picture. Apparently, Henry had a meltdown immediately after this photo was taken, and Paul had to deal with a screaming child for the 1.5 mile trek back to the car.  Bummer.  As soon as he was loaded into his carseat, he fell asleep.  Therefore, Paul discovered the first downside to the Baby Jogger - the seat doesn't recline enough to Henry's napping liking.

Conversation, peas.

Henry experienced peas for the second time tonight.  He was thrilled when I pulled them out of the fridge, and gobbled down about half of before he decided that it was time for some dinner conversation.  I will go ahead and apologize for the shaky, and sometimes off-centeredness of this video.  Feeding and videoing do no mix.

My personal favorite is where Henry spots the peas on his bib and decides to snack (around 2:01).  This baby does not want any to go to waste!

5 Months!

Henry turned 5 months old on Saturday! I can't believe it.

The child is only capable of sitting somewhere for short periods of time before you have to give him something to chew on.  Otherwise, he sees his feet and does a face plant during his grand attempts to grab them (to put in his mouth).  Always entertaining!

One of my favorite parts of the day is getting Henry ready for bed.  We always read a book right before we put him down, and he seems to really love all his books.  It's a rare night when he decides he's too tired for his book, but he makes sure we're aware that he has no interest (usually involves heavy sighing, arched back, and lots of whining).  Typically, though, his books get his rapt attention.

As you can see, he does get easily distracted (snapping of the camera).  Therefore, whoever isn't reading him his books typically has to sit on the floor out of sight while holding Oscar so he can focus.   :)

Paul and I were so lucky to get this little guy.  Once we're done with the nightly reading, this little cutie gets covered in nighttime kisses and then put to bed.  He seems to genuinely love his bedtime.  Every night he's put to bed while he's still awake, and after rolling around and talking to himself for a few minutes, he puts himself to sleep.  I can count on one hand the number of times he cries when we put him down (and usually it's because he's overly exhausted himself).  Such a sweet baby!

I've had numerous people tell me over the past few weeks that 5 to 6 months was their favorite baby age, and I totally understand why!  If we can get Henry to master holding his own bottle and sitting on his own, I'll be ready to freeze him at this age forever!
